As we gear up for Valentine's Day weekend, I can't help to think about what my look is going to be. I typically always opt for colored lips - I mean red or pink lips are just a win - but this time around I wanted to try something different. This February 14th, I'm going for a smoky eye but with more gray and brown undertones. Black alone can be a bit severe, so Dom decided to give me a more subtle approach with brown and gray instead.

We used the Lorac PRO palette - which is a fave - using Sable and Expresso to build the base color and topped it off with Slate and Black. The Slate broke up the severity of stark black perfectly. Because the eyes were dark, we made sure to clean up under the eyes with concealer - queue NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. And of course, your brows have to be fleekier than usual so only Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz will do. Because it's a smoky look, you can top your natural lashes with L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes, but I like the extra edge false lashes give (especially in pictures). Ardell Wispies have been a recent favorite.

While I don't have the luxury of having makeup artist do my face for V-Day, this approachable take on smoky eyes has me feeling confident to nail the look this weekend.
