So, I'm no Martha Stewart, but I am at that point in my life where I have friends over for dinner and get together with friends and family because of the kids. I love being over the top and making moments like these as picturesque as possible, but sometimes I have to be real with myself and realize that my budget only allows so much. But there is one thing that I always make sure I have a budget for to elevate an occasion: fresh flowers.
They always make even the most modest moments impressive. To me they really say, "I cared about this occasion enough to bring something beautiful to it." I came across these photos from Maizah's dedication in early March. After church, we headed to a local hall where my good friends dressed the table with a disposable tablecloth, paper placemats & napkins. However, it was the white tulips in miscellaneous clear vases that stole the show on the table.
White flowers just make everything feel more upscale.
My favorite flowers in the spring/summer are tulips & hydrangeas. I caught the flowers on sale for about $3-4 for a dozen at my local Whole Foods. I bought 10 of them. But for me, spending full price ($50-$80 total) on flowers is worth it even if I'm not looking to spend much a crazy amount. Trader Joe's has unbeatable prices ALL YEAR ROUND.
So for your next dinner party, brunch or even if you have friends coming to visit from out of town, grab a couple dozen white flowers and see how it visually upgrades the occasion.
